One sunny morning Lilly Handle woke up, and she had a healthy breakfast with her pet raccoon, Nibbles. Lilly’s mom, Sarah Handle, said, “Lilly, I think it’s time to get new shoes.” Lilly jumped up and yelled, “Yeah!”
When they got to the awesome shoe store, Special Shoes, they saw Detective Cassie Moon. Lilly’s mom said, “Hello Det. Moon.” “Hi, what’s that little bear for?” said Detective Moon. “Oh this is a teddy bear I made for my pet raccoon,” said Lilly. Lilly found some pink and green shoes she liked. When she bought them, she put them on right away. Then right after that she saw a drawing center. Lilly said, “Hey mom, may I go draw over at that drawing center?” “Sure honey,” said Mom. It turns out Det. Moon was drawing there too. Lilly said, “Det. Moon, what are you drawing?” Det. Moon said with a soft voice, Just a design. Lilly said, “I’m drawing a big map where my house is.” “Cool,” Det. Moon said.
Lilly’s mom said, “Come on, we’ve got to go to your friend’s party.” Lilly almost forgot about her friend’s party. It is at the Inflate Place. They have a lot of inflatable stuff. When she got there, she took her new shoes off and put her teddy bear in her left shoe. Lilly went off to jump, race in the hard obstacles, and play basketball. When they were done, Lilly couldn’t find her shoes. She told her mom she couldn’t find her shoes. So then her mom carried her to the car. Lilly said sadly, “That means my teddy bear I made for Nibbles is gone too. I put it in my left shoe.” Where could my shoes be? Did somebody take them?
Det. Moon saw that Lilly had forgotten her drawing. Lilly told her mom to call Det. Moon. Lilly said loudly, “Det. Moon, I lost my new shoes at my friend’s birthday party. I had to take my shoes off because it was an inflatable place.” Lilly hung up really fast. They were all on the hunt. Who could have done this? While they were looking, Lilly found two of Nibbles funny toys, a grandma with a jump rope. Lilly remembered when she got that toy from McDonalds. Then there was also a creative catapult she made out of Popsicle sticks. When she went a little further she saw the teddy bear she made for Nibbles. “Where’s Det. Moon?” Lilly said curiously. Meanwhile Det. Moon was wondering where’s Lilly and Sarah? Lilly and her mom ran home. Det. Moon said to herself “Oh ya! I have the map Lilly made. I will hit whoever has Lilly’s new shoes. I have this ribbon that is hard like a rope." Det. Moon saw a cute little squirrel and accidentally hit it. “I’m so sorry,” said Det. Moon sadly. Lilly and her mom arrived at the same time Det. Moon did.
They went in the house and up the steep stairs into Lilly’s room. They all saw Lilly’s pink and green shoes. They all looked at each other for a moment, and then they all started laughing so hard. “I guess we got to get new shoes for you, Lilly” said Mom in a weird way. “Let’s all have fresh cookies and milk for a snack,” Lilly said.
